Enrichment Programme
Identifying individual passions is a key aspect to helping a child find fulfilment and gain confidence.
This ethos is at the core of a Tower House education. We aim for every boy to feel valued and able to contribute positively to the life of the school. In parallel with this, ensuring that we equip every child with flexible, transferable skills to take on whatever challenges they face in life is vital. If learning these skills through a diverse co-curricular program is fun and inspiring at the same time, even better!
All boys from Year 1 - 8 are enroled in The Tower House Enrichment Program. This includes:
- ThED Talks: Bi-termly educational talks from external speakers – Like TED Talks but better! Recent talks have included Richard Hughes (drummer in the rock band Keane), Nick Mullins (Sports Journalist and TV Commentator), Lawrence Dallaglio (ex-England Rugby Captain and World Cup Winner) and Will Gompertz (ex-BBC Arts Director). These informative and interesting talks challenge the boys to think beyond the school walls. Junior ThED Talks allow the boys to present to their peers on a topic they are passion about. - Themed weeks that focus on key areas such as maths, English, STEM and mental health.
- A varied calendar of school day trips, making the most of what a capital city has to offer, as well as annual residential trips for each year group in the Senior School.
- A cross-curricular approach linking subjects allows pupils to have multiple opportunities to understand and apply newly learnt skills.
- National academic competitions such as the Townsend-Warner History Prize, the Royal Geographical Society Young Geographer of the Year and Maths Olympiads allow the boys to test their knowledge and understanding of their favourite subjects.
- Our exceptional and broad offering of clubs means there is something new for every pupil to discover! To find out more, please click on the booklet image.
- Subject specific workshops to enhance skills in English, maths, STEM, art and performing arts.
- The Eco-Council is a group of elected representatives from each class (Years 4-8) who meet at least half-termly. They discuss the school's eco commitments, highlighting areas of success and identifying opportunities for improvement. Their efforts help drive sustainable practices throughout the THS community.
