Residential & Day Trips
School trips often form the most memorable experiences for children at school, providing learning in a different setting, breaking from routine and exploring the world around them.
We aim to make the most of living in such a vibrant, diverse and cultural capital city through regular trips throughout the year; including attending a chemistry workshop at the Royal Institute, filming a TV news report on a green screen at SKY studios and enjoying a behind the scenes tour of the Globe theatre!
The real excitement occurs at our annual residential trips:
- Year 4 embark on a 2-day trip to Flatford Mill in Suffolk with a focus on natural science.
- Year 5 head to York to explore medieval history (including an all-important workshop on chocolate making!)
- Year 6 go to France for some language immersion as well as visits to important sites from WWI and WWII.
- Year 7 tackle their geography fieldwork studies over 5 days in Calshot, Hampshire
- Year 8 take to outdoor activities at Skern Lodge, Devon, to enjoy a week of kayaking, abseiling, climbing, tunnelling, rafting and surfing!
In addition the THS Cricket Tour is a major highlight in the school calendar for staff, boys and parents! All Year 7 and Year 8 boys are invited to join the tour, irrespective of ability and this memorable trip offers a perfect blend of stunning natural beauty and the deep-rooted Barbadian culture and passion for cricket.
In advance of this trip the boys are expected to raise funds to buy cricket kit that is donated to disadvantaged Barbadian children’s cricket clubs. This is a key part of the ethos of this trip, as is meeting and socialising with the local players.
