EYFS Curriculum
Our Reception days at Tower House are busy, fun and varied! We have plenty of learning to do but the key is to ensure the boys are feeling confident and comfortable, are making good friends and are feeling cared for and fully supported. We want to see as many smiling faces as possible. The boys enjoy a wide range of activities from learning phonics and number bonds through to cooking, swimming, music, PE, ICT and reading time. A weekly highlight for the boys is story-time with the Head and Deputy Head. It is their highlight too! And then, there is the magic of Forest School.
Our all-boy environment allows us to tailor the curriculum and design lessons that exclusively suit the learning styles of boys and ensure that every day they are engaged and stimulated. The boys spend their first year at Tower House familiarising themselves with their daily routines, making friends and gaining confidence. This year, we believe, is all about laying a firm foundation on which to build, allowing the boys to flourish and thrive as they develop into independent and happy learners. Each lesson combines formal teacher-led instruction with time to play and explore, providing the perfect preparation for Key Stage 1.
Reception follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, which includes three key areas:
Physical development
Personal, social and emotional development
Communication and language
These three key areas are developed and strengthened through literacy, numeracy, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.
